You Are Not What You Own

Contrary to popular belief, apparently we are not what we own. This is at least the perceived notion held by one naughty little vagabond. Spotted in Surrey,UK by a reader. Looks like a pretty precarious place to go do it!

OK, I’ve just got to point out that this is not in Surrey in the UK. I have had 2 of my readers tell me that I’m wrong. In this case, as always, the customer (you) is always right. From what I can tell this is in Iowa, USA. I’m glad I have some vigilant readers.I also have some lying contributors. Naughty naughty… Just goes to show you should always check your sources. (Listen up Bush/Blair puppets, I think you did the same thing with that Iraq thingy!)

  1. Materialistic possessions might give fame but true self lies inside and we love and respect this true self of a person.

  2. Waht we own makes us blend in with whats around us. By doing so sometimes we are not showing our true colors. I am guilty of it.

  5. thats a Fugazi lyric. great band, great song (although i forgot the name): its on the album repeater

  6. You have watched Fight Club once more than you should have. Inspiration should always fall short of ripping off bad movie quotes. Our Single-serving vandel is just another loser with a spraycan. Tyler Durden isn’t real and neither is what you own.

When we have nothing left to give
There will be no reason for us to live
But when we have nothing left to lose
You will have nothing left to use

We owe you nothing you have no control

    Merchandise keeps us in line
Common sense says it’s by design
What could a businessman ever want more
than to have us sucking in his store

    We owe you nothing
    You have no control
You are not what you own

  9. these are train tracks crossing the iowa river. I go to the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, USA. I see this tag everyday on my way to class.

  10. That’s in Iowa City. I see that a million times a day. Not Surrey.

  11. Maybe this should read, “You own what you are not”.

  12. Charles hit the nail on the head! I may just change the title now. Am I allowed to rewrite history? It is my blog I guess…

  13. I just stumbled upon your blog and I love this one! I have never put an emphasis on this in my life, ye the outer world seems to do so. Living simply is my motto.

  14. Very interesting… thanks.
